About us

In Jingdezhen,time flows differently.

Clay awakens beneath the artisans'fingertips; glazes solidify under the kiln's gaze. A millennium of craftsmanship should not be a specimen displayed in a museum case, but the warmth of a morning teacup, the companionship of an evening lampshade.

Thus, Lavie Jian was born – to return porcelain to the essence of daily life.

Our Obsession – Partnering only with Jingdezhen's artisans.

The lines on their palms are the most beautiful glaze recipes.

Every piece retains the marks of the hand–

The subtly asymmetrical curve holds a warmth machines cannot replicate;the serendipitous flow of the glaze is a love letter from time, meant for the right eyes.

Yet,we've long pondered: where does the soul of an object truly originate? From the refinement of the artisan's touch, or from the memory deep within the earth? Our gaze turned to Dunhuang. There, upon the millennia-spanning murals, we found our answer: that 'Lapis Lazuli Blue' is the breath of the sky; that 'Earthen Red' is the embrace of the land. We realized – the hands of Jingdezhen's artisans exist to interpret the soul of Dunhuang.

We transformed the flowing ribbons of the 'Flying Apsaras' into the graceful curve of a spout;

We painted the legend of the'Nine-Colored Deer' into moving fables at the bottom of cups;

We let the splendid hues of the'Caisson Ceilings' bloom quietly upon plates and bowls.

We carefully entrusted this grand inspiration from Dunhuang to the artisans of Jingdezhen. When an artisan concentrates, brush in hand, they paint not just a caisson pattern, but reverence for an ancient order; when polishing the curve of a spout, their fingertips trace the very rhythm of wind-swept apsara ribbons. Thus, each finished piece is not merely an object, but a resonance of civilization and craftsmanship, waiting for you to gently awaken it in the rhythm of your daily use!

Yet, the resonance of beauty is never confined to East or West. While Dunhuang's Flying Apsaras express ethereal grace through line drawing, another form of art, across the seas, was celebrating the vitality of nature with exuberant brushstrokes and light.

We came to understand:

The enduring mineral pigments of Eastern murals and the rich oils of Western masters chasing light and life are,in essence, a shared pilgrimage towards eternal beauty. The linear art of Dunhuang and the brushwork aesthetics of the West, though different in form, share the same spiritual core – an expression of profound passion for the world.

Thus, Lavie Jian's exploration ventured into broader artistic fields.

We do not copy specific masters,but pay homage to the spirit of an era, translating souls that have burned brightly for a thousand years.

  • We entrusted the magic of 'Impressionist' light and shadow to Jingdezhen's 'glaze transformation'. High-temperature color glazes naturally flow and blend within the fire. What we capture are the dreamlike mists of dawn and dusk, the hues of the seasons, reminiscent of Monet's garden – each piece a unique creation in the world.
  • We condensed the fervent brushstrokes of 'Post-Impressionism' under the precise 'brushwork' of our artisans. Those lines and blocks of color, pulsating with life, find new expression on smooth porcelain surfaces, carrying the undying passion for sunflowers, much like in Van Gogh's fields.

The Dunhuang of the East, the Impressionism of the West –

In this moment,both become the clay, the glaze, and the fire in our hands.
